The Biltmore House was built by George Washington Vanderbilt II in the 1800s. The French Renaissance-style chateau spans over 175,000 square feet and features 250 rooms. The Biltmore House, the largest privately-owned residence in the United States, is still owned by descendants of the Vanderbilt family.
